Road to Futa +PLUS Pucon

February 27 - March 9, 2019

 MOST POPULAR TRIP

The “Road to Futa” makes the “A +PLUS”  list illuminating our adventure mantra, “this is as good as life gets.” Road to Futa starts with proper outfitting and whitewater warmer upper on the Pucon Classics. Kayakers get the bonus of kayaking a few of Pucon’s rivers and premium retreat assets. Most kayakers opt for a Pucon Trip Extension before Futa to make most of their Chile time. Trip briefing answers questions about logistics, and the expedition rig sets off on our annual Patagonia pilgrimage.

Your Road to Futa trip arranges your logistics by ferry through Patagonia. Port town ceviche, fresh salmon, empanadas and card games on the ferry.
Your Road to Futa trip arranges your logistics by ferry through Patagonia. Port town ceviche, fresh salmon, empanadas and card games on the ferry.

Imagine traveling on Patagonian ferries motoring through fjords, passing volcanos, watching dolphins, port towns, and glaciers. Smiling faces, rustic land, livestock, peaks, valleys, rivers, and gulfs flow together gifting you the awe sensation. This wow adventure represents Patagonia travel with the logistics done for you. Start from Pucon base, travel to the nearby Rio Fuy, ferry across the Andean Lago Neltume, drive just 2 KM to the Argentina border, going deeper into Patagonia, and finally arrive to the Futa Valley. Yes. We will take the time to stop for photos embracing the many glorious vistas.

Futa base camp is on the river’s most popular section, Bridge to Bridge. Overlooking the famous Cara del Indio (Face of the Indian) you can walk to the river to fish for trout as you enjoy your morning coffee. Giant turquoise waves offer the whitewater thrills of a lifetime. You’ll start your Futa kayaking with fun sections, as your confidence and skills build you’ll progress daily to more advanced river sections and features. Or maybe you prefer paddling the same fun rapids and improving where you are most confident. Sections include Inferno Canyon, the Miracle Mile, Terminator, Bridge to Bridge, Casa de Piedra (House of Rock), and McCall.

Did we mention after you get off the river we have cocktails and appetizers waiting? How about chef cooked meals around a warm fire? Your guide raises his Copa of vino de tinto and toasts your river accomplishments. This is as good as life gets.”
