Jackie learnt her roll and was running III+ rapids by the end of the week. Way to go!!!Really? Can I learn to whitewater kayak in Chile? The short answer is yes. We all had to learn somewhere, and turns out Chile’s rivers, lakes, and hot springs are the perfect for whitewater development. A one or two week program will give you proper time and practice to develop fundamental skills and explore more rivers. Kayaking rivers is addictive. You see there is something magical about exploring rivers, challenging yourself, the  rush of the water, and bonding that has kept all of us kayakers coming back to rivers. Learning to whitewater kayak is your passport to new and exciting adventures with friends team scouting, decision making, and celebrating successes and failures.

Why is Chile’s Lakes District so great for development whitewater kayaking?

Learning to whitewater kayak is your membership to a community of travelers seeking rivers worldwide. Andean peaks, volcanos, glaciers, snow pack, annual precipitation, hot springs lakes, lagunas, and rivers all make their drainage past the Pucon Kayak Retreat en route to the Pacific. Lakes and hot springs are excellent for hot and cold day rolling practice. The multitude of rivers provide more development features for learning kayak mechanics than anywhere.

Beginner Whitewater Kayaker Progressions

Private career instructors will teach you progressions that have you celebrating after each success level. You’ll learn how to paddle, scout, navigate, and run rapids.

Equipment orientation, outfitting & safety.

You’ll learn the key pieces of equipment and various styles of kayaking. Some safety concerns, history, and applications of the world’s most dynamic water craft. What other craft can plunge waterfalls, roll upright, surf waves, and run rapids?

What equipment will you need?

Don’t worry. We’ve got you covered. When you register you’ll list your sizes and we’ll outfit you win you arrive.

Running rapids, ferrying, safety, and scouting.

Of course, you are going to want to try your skills on rapids because these little boats are a hoot and holler of fun win in moving currents. This is win it gets exciting. We’ll start you on manageable features to learn the mechanics of your kayak.

As your skills progress so will the rivers.

Each day your skills will progress as will your daily new challenges. It’s easy to get defeated because rolling in whitewater is super unnatural in the beginning. But with great instructors and team support each progression and failure is celebrated as a progressive advancement. We’ll keep the adventures and rivers coming, and you keep the good attitude.
